Hello I am not able to capture from my Sony Handycam TVR230.  I am using archlinux.  

Using kino, the AVC controls work but capturing fails.   dvgrab gives the following:

$ dvgrab -format raw test.dv
Found AV/C device with GUID 0x0800460102033c48
Waiting for DV...    (nothing ever happens)

^C""     0.00 MiB 0 frames
Capture Stopped
Error: no DV

I would be happy to provide more information or test any ideas.  Thank you.
